Auto exports mark 19th straight month rise

Exports of new built-up motor vehicles in February increased 11.7% to 519,695 units, compared with the year-ago result. This was the 19th consecutive month of increase.

The February exports represented a 51.6% of total vehicle output in Japan, 3-point smaller htan previous month.

The February exports valued at US$11,790.48 million which comprising of US$9,337.85 million of vehicles and US$2,452.63 million of part/componet. The total value increased by 13.1% compared with the year-ago month.

The January exports were made up of 462,188 passenger cars(including 12,691 KD sets), up 12.0%,49,113 trucks(17,612 KD sets), up 7.5%, and 8,394 buses(591 KD sets), up 18.2%.

Meanwhile, motorcycle exports were 137,499 units in February, up 12.0% on the year. It marked the first increase in six months.

Suzuki begins exporting XL7 from Canada to Latin America

Suzuki Motor Corporation said that it has started to export its XL7 crossover SUV, which is made at its joint manufacturing venture in Canada, to Central and South American markets.

The XL7, which is powered by a 3.6-liter V6 engine, was already introduced to the U.S. and Canadian markets in last October. Suzuki plans to increase the production of XL7 to 45,000 units per year.
