Used Vehicle exports in May rise to 124,015 units

Used vehicle exports in May increased 6.4%(or 7,475 units larger) from a year earlier to 124,015 units, according to the Ministry of Finance Customhouse Statistics.

Exports in the first five months of this year also rose 17.2% to 580,408 units.

The May shipments bound for Russia increased 26.2% on the year to 49,852 vehicles.

The market share of that country reached 40.2%. The average price of exported vehicles to Russia increased by around 90,000 yen to nearly 660,000 yen per vehicle on an FOB price basis.

Used vehicles bound for Chile also sharply increased by 32.7% on the year to 13,753 units .The average price of exported vehicles to Chile declined by around 10,000 yen to nearly 250,000 yen to 360,000 yen.

These top three countries look nearly 58% of the total export market.

 Exports to New Zealand substantially declined 48.3% to 5,664 units. The average price to NZ, however, increased by around 20,000 yen to nearly 515,000 yen per vehicle.

 Exports to Monglia and Bangladesh showed the largest year-on-year gains in the top 25 destinations for May. Used vehicles bound for Bangladesh doubled to 3,217 units. The average price declined by around 20,000 yen to nearly 940,000 yen per vehicle. Exports to Monglia rose to 3,017 units. Average FOB price fell by aound 30,000 yen to 312,000 yen.

On the other hand, exports to the U.K. and Cyprus were in low levels.

Exports to Sri Lanka and Pakistan showed significant decreases on the year.
