Used vehicle exports in the first six months this year increased 13% (or 81,008 units larger) from a year earlier to 698,786 units, according to the Ministry of Finace Customhouse Statistics.
The full year 2008 exports will likely to top the current record of 1.3 million units marked in 2007.
The 1st half 2008 shipments bound for Russia increased 30% on the year to 282,554 vehicles. Exports to Chile also increased 46% to 68,251 units.
In contrast, used vehicles bound for New Zealand and U.A.E. slumped 28% and 10%, respectively.
Remarkeable growth of exported volume was also found in those to Malaysia (up 36%), Uganda (up 23%), Tanzania (up 41%), Dominican Republic (up 64%), and Thailand (up 47%).
In june 2008, however, used vehicle exports saw the first year-on-year decline in ten months since September 2007. The June exports fell 4.5% to 118.378 units.
Exports to Russia slightly increased 3% to 51,160 units.
Market share of the contry stood at 43% for the month. Average FOB price climbed by around 70,000 yen to 650,000 yen.
Used vehicles bound for Chile rose 18.5% to 10,303 units. Average FOB price climbed by around10,000 yen to 250,000 yen.
Exports to U.A.E. declined 34% to 6,728 units. Average FOB price climbed by around 60,000 yen to 380,000yen.
Kenya ranked fourth in June, which outperformed New Zealand. Exports to Kenya declined 0.4% to 4,377 units, while those to New Zealand shrunk from last year’s 9,610 units to 4,126 units. Average FOB price (Kenya) climbed by around40,000 yen to 570,000 yen. That of NZ destined vehicles climbed by around 40,000 yen.
Exports to U.K. also declined to only 1,132 units. Average FOB price climbed by around 70,000 yen to 560,000 yen.
